"DOLL PARTS"

Traveling back in time to uncover parts of myself I'd rater forget about.

I knew exactly what the theme was and I had three old song titles in mind:

"I'm only happy when it rains" (Garbage)
"She's got issues" (Offspring)
"Bad reputation" (Joan Jett and the Blackhearts)

My teenage playlist and my deepest depression with multiple suicide attempts. Spending years in therapy and behind locked doors in hospitals. I did not attend "high school" or have a prom. Instead I had pills, anxiety and painting.

The collection name comes from the song "Doll parts" by Hole. If you haven't heard it you should give it a listen, it's sad and messed up and sums up what was happening in my head in the mid-90s.

I've written about my process previously on other collection pages but I'll still include some process photos to take you through the making of each of these.

Materials used:
Vintage magazine pages, 1940s foodstamps, spray paint, acrylic markers, ink, pencil, watercolor, gouache.

All the final girls are scanned and edited using Photoshop.
