"VALENTINE 2022"

After having the inital idea for a collection there is an extensive planning phase behind the scenes. Here I am going to begin sharing what goes into making my Valentines Day Collection 2021 - a pinup style series exploring sensuality and a more playful illustration style.

1. THE PLANNING

I started out with the papers and the theme.

I went for an older style illustration - think 1800s - and then I collaged more modern images on top (1920s-1940s). I already knew I wanted to do a "sexier" theme, like Bond girls, but on older style pages.

2. SKETCHING AND COMPOSITION

I did thumbnail sketches for each pinup and I tried to look at the pages to figure out a shape that would fit well. 

3. PROCESS

I've written about my process previously in Calender Girls, Feeling Blue and the main Vintage Girl page. I still wanted to include some process photos to take you through the making of each of these.

Vintage magazine pages, glue stick (Pritt), markers, pencil.
